Bethesda has now delivered on its promise to fix the severe crashing issue affecting Starfield on PS5 and PS5 Pro. Patch 1.000.003 is now available for download on Sony platforms, measuring 1.445GB.
However, as mentioned earlier, this hotfix does not address all the causes of the game’s crashes. In fact, it only addresses the crashing issue on PS5 Pro. The developers clarified on social media: “Today we released a quick hotfix for Starfield players on PlayStation 5 Pro that resolves the crashing issue when using the ‘Enhanced’ settings.”

Clearly, there were some glitches in the PS5 Pro’s exclusive “Enhanced” graphics mode, and we at least hope this issue has been resolved. It’s unclear whether this update will also help players experiencing game crashes on other graphics settings.
This is undoubtedly a huge disappointment for players experiencing other types of crashes, as well as those playing Starfield on the base PS5. Bethesda continued, “The team is preparing another hotfix patch for other PlayStation 5 crashes and freezes, expected to be released next week. Thank you to all the players who contacted the support team; your feedback was very helpful.”

Therefore, the wait continues, and it’s far from ideal. According to our own investigation, as mentioned before, a significant number of crashes are still related to actions such as building outposts and customizing ships. These fall under some kind of menu or system-level bug, which we speculate will be fixed in next week’s patch.
By the way, today marks one week since Starfield launched on PS5. Bethesda is clearly working hard to fix the game, but the situation is ultimately not very pleasant.
