A dramatic turn of events occurred during the world first kill race for the latest World of Warcraft expansion, “Darkest Night.” After the top guild Team Liquid reduced the final boss “L’ura’s” health to zero, the boss miraculously revived with full health, unlocking a previously unknown hidden phase.

The incident occurred during the raid’s final boss kill race last weekend. After hours of intense progression, Team Liquid finally reduced the boss’s health to 0%, and the team members cheered in celebration. However, the boss then revived with a “reintegration” animation and entered a fourth phase that had never appeared before.
Guild member THD, during the live stream, exclaimed in a manner reminiscent of an NPC’s dialogue: “This is impossible! A hidden phase! No!”
Previously, data miners had discovered unused boss abilities in game files, sparking rumors of a “hidden phase.” However, given that the first three phases of this boss are widely considered extremely difficult, most teams deemed the rumor unreliable. Blizzard’s design was praised by viewers as a “clever response to hardcore teams’ ‘never let their guard down’ mentality.”

As of press time, L’ura has not yet been killed by any guild. Team Liquid has rejoined the raid, hoping to secure the first kill before other time zone guilds “wake up and fight again.” The introduction of Phase 4 means teams need to complete the first three phases in even better condition, further intensifying the already fierce battle for the first kill.
Although the team involved was initially caught off guard, viewers watching the live stream praised Blizzard’s design. Many players stated that the addition of the hidden phase extended the excitement of the first kill race by at least one or two days, adding extra dramatic tension to this hardcore competition.
As of now, Blizzard has not officially explained the trigger conditions or the design rationale behind this hidden phase.
