AppReviewPros.com, April 11 — According to a report today by tech media outlet MacRumors, select configurations of the Mac mini and Mac Studio are currently completely out of stock on Apple’s U.S. website.

According to reports, the 32GB and 64GB memory configurations of the Mac mini, as well as the 128GB and 256GB configurations of the Mac Studio, are currently marked as “unavailable” and cannot be purchased.
Furthermore, other currently available configurations of the Mac mini and Mac Studio are facing significantly extended shipping times; the official website indicates an estimated delivery window of one to three months.
Some users have speculated that these signs suggest Apple is preparing to launch M5-chip versions of the Mac mini and Mac Studio. However, given current market conditions, a more probable explanation is that global shortages of memory chips are impacting supply. Over the past six months, surging demand for AI servers has led numerous enterprises to aggressively acquire high-capacity memory, directly driving up memory prices and creating a supply shortage for devices equipped with large amounts of RAM.
The fact that the models currently out of stock are all high-memory configurations further corroborates this theory. While Apple typically extends shipping times prior to product updates, the delay in this instance—reaching up to three months—makes it difficult to determine whether this is merely a standard “inventory clearance” phase preceding a generational refresh.
Although the specter of the DRAM shortage continues to loom over the IT industry, Apple may still unveil M5 Max and M5 Ultra versions of the Mac Studio at WWDC 26, while the M5-equipped Mac mini is likely to receive an update this coming September or October.
