AppReviewPros reported on April 21 that GitHub officially announced adjustments to its GitHub Copilot personal subscription plan on April 20 local time.

To prioritize service quality for existing paid users, GitHub has announced a temporary suspension of new user registrations for the Student, Pro, and Pro+ plans. Copilot Free remains open to new users, and existing users can still upgrade between plans.
Furthermore, usage restrictions on the Student plan are stricter. GitHub states that the Pro+ plan offers more than five times the usage credit of the Pro plan. Users requiring a higher credit limit on the Pro plan can upgrade to Pro+. Usage tracking functionality is also coming soon.
AppReviewPros has learned that the Copilot Pro plan will no longer offer the Opus model. Opus 4.7 is still available in the Pro+ plan, while Opus 4.5 and 4.6 will be removed.
The official statement indicates that if users encounter unexpected restrictions or if these changes do not meet their needs, they can cancel their Pro or Pro+ subscriptions without incurring April’s usage fees. Users can contact GitHub support for a refund between April 20th and May 20th.
