AFP reported that Trump posted on social media on Tuesday (April 21): “Operation Midnight Hammer completely destroyed Iran’s nuclear dust facilities. Therefore, digging it out will be a long and difficult process.”
Trump frequently uses the term “nuclear dust” to refer to Iran’s stockpile of enriched uranium, which the US accuses Iran of hoarding for nuclear weapons. However, he sometimes uses “nuclear dust” to refer to the material left behind after the US airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities last June.
The US and Israel launched a joint airstrike on Iran on February 28, aimed at eliminating what Israel calls an “existential threat” posed by Iran’s nuclear program.
Israeli officials say Tehran has intensified its efforts to acquire nuclear weapons since the end of a 12-day war last June. During that war, which was initiated by Israel, the United States bombed three Iranian nuclear facilities, including a uranium enrichment plant.
