Iranian Media: Resurgence of Conflict More Likely Than Continued Negotiations; Iran Prepared
According to Iran’s Tasnim News Agency on the 19th, Iran is prepared for a renewed conflict and has taken corresponding measures based on US military movements.
The report states that, given recent US military activities, including naval deployments, weapons transport, reconnaissance flights, and air defense deployments, Iran has assessed two possible scenarios and has taken necessary countermeasures.
The report points out that the first scenario is that the US intends to use these military preparations to create psychological pressure in order to extract leverage at the negotiating table. However, just as such pressure and threats have failed to influence negotiations in the past, they will not work this time either.
The second scenario is that the US is fabricating a negotiation narrative to cover up and deceive a potential attack on some Iranian islands. In the past year, the US has twice launched surprise attacks on Iran while simultaneously claiming progress in negotiations.
The report states that Iran believes the possibility of renewed fighting is higher than continuing negotiations and has made ample preparations for this. If war breaks out again and Iranian infrastructure becomes a target, Iran will completely abandon the restraint it previously exercised in the Bab el-Mandeb Strait and against regional energy companies and facilities such as Saudi Aramco, the Yanbu Heavy Industrial Park in Saudi Arabia, and the Fujairah Port in the UAE.
